Dramoine: Hermoine+Draco

The Untold Story pt.2

Draco Malfoy was relieved when he heard both Gryffindor students and Slytherin students fill the dungeon where his potions class was held. He had strangely felt like some one had been watching him in the time that Professor Snape had left. This was especially weird seeing as how the only someone who could be doing that would be Hermoine Granger. They had sat in an awkward silence since they had both left breakfast early to get to their class.

Alissa Newich plopped down in the seat next to him and he groaned. ‘Not again’, he thought. Alissa was a slytherin who had quite recently told Draco that she liked him. The last time they had potions they had been partners and now it seemed as if she would insist on sitting with him whenever she wanted to.

“Hey Draco”, Alissa said in a cheery voice. “You don’t mind if I sit here do you.”

Yes I do mind’, Draco thought but instead said, “No. It’s cool Alissa.”

“Everyone take your sits and be quiet”, the potions master commanded as he entered the room again. He continued to lecture them for the entire class on different potions and their uses. The students felt as if they were first years again with all the new names they were getting. After about thirty minutes Deam, a Gryfiindor, raised his hand and said, “Professor why are we suddenly getting so much new material?”

The potions master stopped his lecture and gave a threatening glare to Dean, who immediately regretted saying anything. Snape started to walk slowly back to the boy as everyone stared.

“Because Mr. Thomas”, he spat. “I feel as if we haven’t covered enough in class. But don’t worry there will be plenty of quizzes to check you understanding”, he finished with a sneer. Everyone groaned. “Plus because you dare interrupt a teacher when they are speaking  that is fifteen points from Gryffindor.” He walked back to the front of the room to continue his lecture while Slytherins snickered. The two houses were known enemies and Snapes class was where Gryffindors lost the maximum of their house points. It was no surprise though seeing as how Snape hated everyone outside of his own house, the Slytherins, and it seemed he hated the Gryffindors the most of all though there wasn’t much mercy for the Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff houses either.

As the class was about to end Professor made sure to assign yet another paper that would be due in two days. Ron, Harry, and Hermoine packed up their things quickly, eager to get out of the cold dungeon.

“Well I will see you guys later”, Harry said as he made his way to his next class. He wasn’t in Herbology with Hermoine and Ron.

“Did you want to walk with me”, Ron asked Hermoine as Harry left the two of them standing there. Before Hermoine could answer Melanie Jones walked up in between them.

“Hey Ron so want to walk with me to Herbology? I have something”, she gave a quick look to Hermoine before continuing. “I have something I want to talk to you about”. Ron looked at Hermoine who responded

“Well um I just have to go to the bathroom. So I will see you guys there. Okay?” Ron nodded as he was dragged off to class by Melanie who said nothing to Hermoine.

Hermoine knew that Ron was trying to make sure they were still friends but she was secretly glad Melanie had butted in before she could answer. Of course she still wanted to be friends with him but it might be too soon to be alone with him without Harry there. Besides Hermoine knew that Melanie was crazy about Ron and was just waiting until they would break up. Now that they have Melanie was taking no chances of ever letting them get back together. Hermoine laughed knowing that Melanie had nothing to worry about.

With a few spare minutes until class Hermoine decided that he might as well go to the bathroom seeing as how she had nothing better to do. She began to walk to the nearest one when she passed Moaning Murtles bathroom and heard quiet sobs. It was nothing like what the ghost Moaning Murtle cried like so Hermoine pressed her ear to the door. ‘Gosh I am doing it again’, she thought. ‘Since when did I become an eavesdropper. No, this is different.’ She took her ear away from the door and she heard the crying get louder and decided to walk in and check on whoever it was.

What she found was a small girl with jet black hair that just reached her chin. Her face was buried in her hands and she was crying hysterically, muttering words Hermoine couldn’t eve decipher. She was also wearing back, silver, and green robes. She was a Slytherin who would probably want to beat Hermoine up now that Hermoine has seen this girl crying. If you don’t know about Slytherins then just know that they are tough. Not evil necessarily, but tough, and on the mean side sometimes.

As Hermoine continued to approach, the girl stopped crying and whipped he head around to see who had come in. The girls eyes were red and puffy.

“What are you doing here”, she growled, glaring at Hermoine.

“I-I heard someone crying and came to see who it was”, Hermoine replied while trying to keep her voice steady.

“Why”, the girl snapped. “So you can laugh at me too? So you can tell everyone and everyone can just laugh and say I am crazy out of my head?” The girl wasn’t even yelling. In fact she was practically whispering in a way that would make you want to run. The only reason that Hermoine didn’t run was because the girl couldn’t stop Hermoine from hearing the hurt in her voice.

Hermoine just looked at the girl confused as to why she would ever tell anyone and why they would laugh at this girl. For a moment she didn’t know what to say. Then she settled for,

“I’m Hermoine.” The girl looked at her for a moment with disgust.

“I KNOW WHO YOU ARE! What I don’t know is why you are still here. I didn’t come here just so stupid Gryffindor girls can come in here and stare at me. Hermoine was startled and it seemed as if all smart things to say had left her mind.

“You know I’m in Gryffindor”, she asked wondering who this girl was.

“Yes I know. You were in potions class. You’re the know-it-all who keeps asking questions and answering them.” When Hermoine continued to look at her confused the girl continued. “I was in the class you idiot. I was sitting in the front row! You must have seen me! I was sitting right next to Dra-” She couldn’t even finish her sentence as she burst into tears ignoring the fact that she was crying in front of someone else.

Suddenly Hermoine remembered the girl. What was her name? Alissa!

“Oh wait um I do remember you. Your name is Alissa. Sorry I guess I just didn’t recognize you cause didn’t you used to have long hair? Anyway yeah I remember you were in potions. You sat next to Malfoy.” Another wave of tears racked Alissa’s body causes her to gasp for air.

“WHOA”, Hermoine said. “What’s going on? What’s wrong?” She bent down to her knees so she was eye level to Alissa.

“Get away from me’, Alissa cried and she tried to scoot away. “You’re a Gryffindor!” Hemoine frowned.

“SO”, she yelled getting Alissa’s full attention. “What does it matter? Just because we are form different houses means nothing to who we are. And sure you could say that people go into their houses because they are similar and have those values or whatever but that doesn’t mean we can’t be friends. If I was extremely upset and had no one to talk to I would care if you were from Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, OR Ravenclaw as long as someone cared enough to talk to me!” She breathed heavily when she finished and realized she had been yelling. She also realized that over ten minute must have passed by now and she was really late to Herbology. Alissa looked at her shocked.

“Who said I didn’t have anyone to talk to”, she said though the roughness in her voice had gone down dramatically.

“Well no one is here are they? I don’t see ANYONE here and not even from your own house. Besides you are sitting in moaning murltes bathroom which no one uses. You can take me or you can take moaning murtle.” There was silence for a moment before Hermoine continued.  “So are you going to tell me what’s wrong or not because I am really late to class so you might as well.” Again there was silence and Alissa looked away. “Does it have something to do with Malfoy”, Hermoine asked her voice softer as tears started streaming out of Alissa’s eyes once again.

“How did you know?”

“Well you start crying again every time we say his name.”

“Well. Yeah. It is.” Alissa paused as if she was afraid to go on. “Do you really think that?”

“Think what”, Hermoine asked.

“Think that Gryffindor and Slytherin houses could be friends.”

“Yeah”, Hermoine answered. “I mean Gryffindor gets along with everyone else. But it’s not like I am saying that it is Slytherins fault or anything. Its-its just that maybe people in Slytherin don’t feel like they can be friends with anyone else because I has been this way practically forever. And maybe the other houses just go along with it.” Alissa looked at Hermoine for a while and her expression changed from anger to sadness.

“I think we could be friends”, Alissa said not being able to stop a hint of surprise form seeping into her voice. Hermoine frowned for a second.

“What changed your mind?”

“Its just that I have always thought that too.” Both the girls smiled a little bit then laughed for a good three minutes. The tension had ebbed away and they didn’t know what else to do. When they managed to calm themselves Alissa got a serious look on her face and Hermoine feared that she had come back to her sense and wanted to beat her down. Instead Alissa said,

“But I don’t just give out my friendship that easily. I am a Slytherin after all”, she said the last part with a small chuckle then turned serious again. “You have to prove yourself to be my friend.”

“Um, what would you have me do”, Hermoine asked.

“Talk to Draco Malfoy.”
